Prepare for Change Through Learning
Learning is a life long activity for those who wish to be most productive, lead organizations to the future, be ready and poised for the next opportunity, and be fully engaged in the world.
Pelerei has been assisting clients for more than 20 years in how to help staff learn more effectively. The work began in the classroom with instructors who designed and facilitated the learning of participants. Pelerei's design capabilities were so highly valued that clients asked Pelerei to coach in-house instructional designers.
Pelerei's work continued to expand to the use of distant learning techniques – from the earliest options of video conferencing to producing full courses over several months of on-line work. More recently, this has included creating webinars for broad participation and moderating on-line virtual communities where members encircle the globe.
Most recently, the research of Madelyn Blair, presented in her book, Riding the Current: How to deal with the daily deluge of data, has led to an entire system for developing individual, team, unit, or organizational learning. The Riding the Current™ system helps individuals discover their strengths and the barriers they have to bringing in the right amount of new information and knowledge and offers suggested actions to build on those strengths overcome barriers. Moreover, the system allows whole groups to do the same. Dr. Blair also uses this system in her coaching when clients wish to assure they are continuously refreshing themselves.
Pelerei's approach to organizational learning uses all its understanding of adult learning principles and combines that with the principles of organizational learning discovered in Dr. Blair's research. Her research continues and can be read at her blog.
Like all of the work of Pelerei, helping clients in their learning embraces the philosophy of appreciation, creating learning environments that naturally sustain learning, harnessing the value of story in learning, and reflection of the latest in understanding of group learning techniques.
